In Motor Starter main input supply to connected to Fuse,MCCB or MPCB depending on design philosophy.
MCCB means Miniature Case Ciruit Breaker.
MPCB means Motor Protection Circuit Breaker.
Nowadays MPCB(Motor protection circuit breaker) is used as it has in built protection for motor.
If MPCB is used then relay can be removed from starter.
MCCB/Fuse is used for higher capacity of starter may be more than 50Kw.
As shown in picture MPCB comes with setting of current allowed to carried out by motor.
We can set the current over here, so while in operation of current goes above this value for certain time then it will trip the motor in overload condition.
This is one of the important component of Motor Starter.
MCCB is also used on Power Feeder as a part of protection.
